Here’s a little thread on defensive priorities for those limitless wildcarding this week in #UCLfantasy. I’ll be sure to include a cheaper replacement for each option where possible for those on a standard WC... #UCL

Jordi Alba €6m. Assists galore this season in la liga for the Spaniard. You’d think his heat map was that of Antoine Griezmann and with 2 fixtures against a covid-ridden Dynamo side who will be without their captain, points seem pretty assured. Alternative: Lenglet €5.5m
Tagliafico €5m. Performances are like swings and roundabouts and last year’s group-stage hero is due a haul. 2 fixtures against Denmark’s finest should see a couple of clean sheets and the defender is a threat from set pieces. Alt: Schuurs €4.5m
Walker €5.5m. A goal at the weekend and a home game in UCL against one of the worst away sides in the competition. “Solid CS option” isn’t a normal phrase for Man City defenders but the Greeks are pretty toothless. Alt: Zinchenko €4.5m
Bonucci €5.5m. He’s a BR magnet and a major threat from set pieces. 2 games against Ferencvaros should be like candy to this beautiful, bald baby. Alt: Danilo €5m.
Diego Carlos €5m. A one man wrecking crew and dangerous in the opposing box. 2 games against Krasnodar is a dream run for a team that likes to control the game. Alt: Kounde €4m 
Chilwell €5.5m. He loves goals and assists and they seem to love him. Now that Chelsea seem moderately reliable at the back he’s a sublime pick against an out of sorts Rennes who’s main goal threats are their centre backs. Speaking of which... Alt: Zouma €5m
Kimmich €6.5m: out of position and absolute mustard. Arguably the most in form central midfielder on the planet with a couple of games against the all out attack of Salzburg. Don’t bank on a clean sheet but this kid can haul. There are no alternatives in the Bayern defence.
Ramos €6.5m. The punt of all punts. No idea what Madrid will turn up. No idea what Inter will turn up. Ramos could get sent off and finish on a -2, he could score a pen, get another assist and keep a CS against a struggling Inter. Don’t touch any other RM defenders.
