I’m going to do a #ResearchTip a day for #AcWriMo #AcWriMo2020

01.11.20 you don’t have to start the month writing or even have any writing plans as yet. It’s okay to spend today or the rest of the week reflecting on your writing and goals, and creating a writing schedule.

02.11.20 if your head’s full of ideas that don’t seem to make it to the page try recording yourself thinking aloud or have a friend record a conversation between you. Then either transcribe in full or just pick out the good parts!

04.11.20 on days like today when you're stressed or anxious, writing may be a release or a balm. Write a loved one an email, text or letter. Vent on a page you shred or delete. Craft a poem

05.11.20 if you're trying to write or edit a lot of text try using:
- Comic Sans Typeface
- 1.5 or 2 line spacing
- font size 14
- left text align, no justification

It makes everything easier to read, track, and amend.

06.11.20 writing can be a lonely and isolating experience. Creating/joining a writing group or partnership can:
- keep you motivated
- inspire you
- increase accountability
- broaden your views
- stretch you
- build confidence
I got distracted yesterday 😀 so here’s 08.11.20 #AcWriMo #AcWriMo20 #ResearchTip

Planning on submitting to a journal? Check and follow their editorial instructions, providing *precisely* what they ask for. And read lots of papers from said journal to familiarise with style.

09.11.20 what does 'writing' mean to you? It might be a paper or book, but there may be many other options better suited to you or your audience. A script, cartoon, story, short report, blog post. Don't limit yourself, explore options!

10.11.20 if you're writing an academic paper, ensure you have time to attend to reviewer feedback. Often this can be as time consuming as writing the original paper. We're not told to expect this and it can be disheartening
