1) Nagesgwara & ChannaKeshava, Mosale
An interesting aspect about Mosale temple is that apart from the amazing craftsmanship, the deities of Shiva & Vishnu stand here side by side.
We then moved on to Kaushika, 12 kms from Mosale, which has a temple of LakshmiKeshava
Next day morning, we proceeded to have darshan of Sri Varadarajaswami (Allalanatha) @ Kondajji, a 16km drive from Hassan.
A majestic 11 ft Allalanatha idol holds you mesmerised & dumbstruck
Adaguru, a little known village, 8 kms from Kondajji, enroute Halebeedu, has a small but beautiful Trikuta style temple of Sri Lakshmi Narayana (VadaguNarayana), VenuGopala & Saraswati
Next stop was Belavadi, 22 kms from Adaguru via Halebeedu.
As we pass the entrance & step on the temple pathway, one overawed by the beautiful & symmetrical elevation of this temple
This is a Trikuta style temple with VeeraNarayana, VenuGopala & YogaNarasimha.
Iam not at all a competent authority to comment on the intricately sculpted statues.
All iam able to do is to post a few pics & share my awe & pleasure of having visited these places.
Javagallu 9 kms from Belavadi, is famous for LakshmiNarasimha temple.
This is again a Trikuta temple with SriVishnu, VenuGopala & LakshmiNarasimha.
Next to the main temple, there is a temple of SriMahaLakshmi
Intricately carved images of SriMahaVishnu adorns the outerwalls of the temple.
As we walk in the jagali around the temple, each of these images holds you spellbound
Some more images from Javagallu...
Thereafter moving down from Javagallu to Hassan, Doddagadduvalli which is 30 kms away, beckons us to visit SriLakshmiDevi temple.
This is a Chatushkoota (4 deities) temple, dedicated to SriLakshmi alongwith Kali, Shiva & Vishnu.
The ceiling surface of the mantapa is adorned with beautifully carved AshtaDikpaalakas
On the way back to Bengaluru from Hassan, one can deviate from Channarayapatna & & head towards Nuggehalli, which has 2 very fine templeas of Sri SadaShiva & Sri LakshmiNarasimha
It was dark by the time we came to Nuggehalli LakshmiNarasimha. Couldnt see the finer details of the murtis. There is an imposing stone inscription here which was beyond my comprehension.
This was just a glimpse into the vast world of architectural wonders in "Hoysala" Karnataka.
It has left me yearning for more.
Next time, will try to visit some more of them, with a bit of study & planning
A common factor across all the temples was the apathy of the state towards maintenance & upkeep of our heritage treasure. (Belavadi was somewhat better)
Pandemic has further worsened the livelihood of the local priests.
It was very painful to see this neglect.
