While new restrictions announced in #England, a reminder that there are already national restrictions in #NorthernIreland , #Wales and #Scotland. These do differ so it is important for #healthcare #students to follow their own #university guidelines.
Please avoid speculating here or commenting on what should/shouldn't be happening. This can confuse students and can add more anxiety to students and universities working very hard to ensure student experience remains of high quality.
We have been very clear @councilofdeans that #healthcare students must remain supernumerary during this period and supported to ensure their student status is maintained. They are learners, preparing to become healthcare professionals, not workers.
Student supernumerary status is supported by the wider system, CNOs and unions. We have been working very closely with @theRCN @MidwivesRCM @AHPFederation @unisontheunion to ensure students are supported.
We @councilofdeans meet regularly with governments, public bodies, regulators to ensure risks are being managed and education continues. This is very important in securing the future workforce and for students to be able to complete their studies on time.
We absolutely recognise we need to monitor closely practice placements and -believe me - this is a top priority for universities, CNOs, CAHPOs in their respective countries and regulators.
