Since @NPCI_NPCI never shares the actual usage UPI statistics like DAU/MAU except via such PR puff pieces...

Lets look at things from a different perspective. https://twitter.com/entrackr/status/1318061144284672000
Both Google Pay and PhonePe are growing in marketshare and eliminating the competition.

A year ago, in August 2019 UPI marketshare was

Google Pay 36%
PhonePe 36%
Paytm - 16%
BHIM(PSU Banks) - 2%

(There are fewer PSU banks today than in 2019.) https://twitter.com/kingslyj/status/1307208062143524865
If Google Pay had hit 10 crore MAU, I assume they'd have tooted their horn about it.

So it's safe to say less than 20 crore users accounted for ~80% of all UPI transactions in October 2020.
4 years after demonetisation...

In Chowkidar's "less cash economy" of 135 crore Indians / 90 crore adults the vast majority do not use UPI for even 1 cashless txn per month.
In Chowkidar's #AtmaNirbharBharat being "vocal for local" is 4 foreign owned companies accounting for 97.8% of UPI txns.

While PSU banks account for less than 2% of UPI txns. https://twitter.com/kingslyj/status/1323202740961611776
Also numbers for October are probably higher than normal because of various sales and cashbacks during the festival season.

Earlier this year the total number of monthly active UPI users was much lower. (Also Paytm users tend to use their wallet or bank account rather than UPI.)
This illogical and idiotic war on cash/forced push to digital is "progress" that majority of Indians are not part of/on the wrong side of.

It doesn't help anyone except these surveillance capitalist businesses. (Since 4 or more entities get your UPI txn details for data mining.)
NPCI and the iSPIRT/ @India_Stack were boasting about UPI becoming ubiquitous from feature phones to smart phones and replacing cash.

Clearly the unseen majority are still unseen and still a majority and have been left behind on the wrong side of the digital divide. https://twitter.com/kingslyj/status/1323219548569522176
And NPCI and the iSPIRT/ @India_Stack mercenaries obviously know that too because the unseen majority was never their target for UPI Just a useful tool for propaganda.

So they are scheming more ways to force people onto cashless payments and UPI.
Like this... https://twitter.com/news18dotcom/status/1163659247504121856
And they know that UPI txns are not going to grow significantly when the economy is tanking.

So they are doing what startups do when their business/growth model fails to meet expectations.

PIVOT

They are going to throw everything and see what sticks. https://twitter.com/AaryamanVir/status/1322797659497746432
NPCI's UPI business model is no different from typical online startups.

Gain users first and figure out how to monetise them later.

They know that unseen majority in "Bharat" is broke but corporate India has the moolah and can pay...
Just like how Aadhaar was always going to be mandatory.

UPI was always dreamed up for this "PIVOT".

"BHIM" is roadkill today at 1.1% UPI txns.

But @NandanNilekani and his billionare pays have UPI all to themselves.
