When times are stressful, one thing that's important to remember is sphere of influence. What do you have the power to directly change? Is what you're stressing about outside that sphere? Then stressing won't help.
You can prepare without stressing. Heck, you can even make plans to lower your stress. Make sure you've got food stocked up, meds refilled, and so on.
If there is action you can take within your sphere of influence, you can make plans to lower the stress of that, too.

As long as you take action on that which is within your sphere of influence, you've got it covered to the best of your ability.
Stressing on that which is beyond your sphere of influence falls into the category of "rumination."
Sometimes rumination can help: It can give you ideas to plan for potential crisis. But more often than not, rumination just wears you down.

Heavy rumination is an attempt to control stress, but usually it worsens stress. There is a lot to be legitimately stressed out about right now. But that doesn't mean you have to aggravate it.
I try to approach it like meditation: If you try to get rid of the stress, it will become worse. If you hyperfocus on the stress, it will become worse. Instead, you can just let it be, as it is. Let it come and go on its own. Breathe. Do not fight it or befriend it.
I definitely fail at this sometimes. You've seen evidence of it on my timeline. But, I try my best.
Please try your best as well

If you find yourself unable to let go of the anxiety, think about this: Whether you are stressed or not cannot change the outcome of things outside your sphere of influence. Your thoughts don't have that power. So return focus to that which is closest to you.
It can be easy to succumb to magical thinking: "If I stop stressing out, something will go horribly wrong." But that's not how it works. There are countless people out there fighting for good alongside you. Don't think everything will fall apart because you stopped panicking.
