Symbolism of Shoes in #StartUp : a thread
Good shoes take you to good places. This is the start of the journey of Han Ji Pyeong and Seo Dal-Mi.
Shoes reflect the status in life. Seo Dal-mi is still in denial here, trying to cover up the flaws of her shoes, which we eventually see when she bluffed to her sister that she’s successful. #StartUp
It’s also amazing that I only saw her shoes but it reflected her emotions so well. In this scene, she was caught off guard and felt insecure when she was confronted by her sister. #StartUp

Death/Suicide/End of a journey

Shoes and suicide usually go hand in hand in movies, especially in kdramas. And a person stepping out of his shoes is a symbol of choosing to end the journey, and in this case, it’s choosing to end one’s life. #StartUpEp6 #StartUp

Tie loose ends

After all those years, Granny finally told her part to Dal-mi’s mom, and of course, we had to see her attempt to tie her shoes when it untied itself as she was about to go home.
Helping another

I say attempt because Han Ji Pyeong tied her shoelaces for her. An act that represents the lengths of how much he is willing to do just to help Granny and Dal-mi. #StartUpEp6 #StartUp
