1. As Delhi sees another Covid spike, a reality check. This morning, the Delhi govt's app says that there are a total of only 52 ICU beds with ventilators in PRIVATE hospitals. Think about it: 82 private hospitals in Delhi have only 52 ICU beds with ventilator for Covid.
2. Of these 82 private hospitals, 36 have ZERO ICU beds with ventilator. At least 21 of these 82 private hospitals have a SINGLE ICU bed with ventilator remaining.
3. Major pvt hospitals with ZERO ICU beds with ventilator - Max Smart Saket, Batra, VIMHANS, Max Shalimar Bagh, Apollo, Max Saket (both blocks), Max Patparganj, Fortis VK, Fortis Okhla, Fortis Shalimar Bagh.
4. Safdarjung, one of the largest hospitals in India presently has a SINGLE ICU bed with ventilator, AIIMS Delhi has just 5.
5. So where's Delhi capacity ? Of 404 ICU beds with ventilator available, 197 are available at the govt run Rajiv Gandhi Super Speciality hospital, 33 at AIIMS (Jhajjar, not Delhi!), 18 at GTB hospital, 12 at the private Sir Ganga Ram & a handful in other govt hospitals.
6. The bottomline - if you are seriously sick with COVID, there is minimal to no availability of ICU beds with ventilators at the most reputed private hospitals - download the Delhi Corona app to know where help is available.
