The "remote" discussion mostly conflates two different aspects:
(1) Where are your team members based?
(2) Do you have an office?
These questions are related, but not equivalent. Two examples. https://twitter.com/jeremysliew/status/1323130069980622850

Example 1. You have a company and need a front-end engineer. Should you hire someone who lives in a particular place or does it not matter? Factors here include the work to be done, the rest of the team, and your team's infrastructure for remote.
Example 2. You start your company with two of your local friends. Should you have an office? If you do, should everyone be required to come in every day? The more touchpoints the team will have, stronger argument for an office. But I think "in the office every day" is dead.
This is a great thread, but it's entirely focused on the first question. The second question is just as important. https://twitter.com/jeremysliew/status/1323130069980622850
