People like this are why I habitually delete my threads after saving them these days (I forgot this time), because it takes a copious amount of illiteracy & forced interpretation to see this as my Central claim of importance in the thread https://twitter.com/femboymao/status/1323104005430648832
First of all, I create a typology for the phenomena, of which the central thrust is that the main actors are either opportunists & entryists, the misled, the Well intention unwitting & a few genuine cases.
Second, I call it a minority phenomena
Third, I said it’s intrinsic to the right but not to the left
Fourth, the causal originator of my narrative is the neoliberals not the left
Fifth, I constructed a theory to explain how the phenomena reproduces itself,
Without the intent or ill will of the parties, with the express point that the issue is mutual misunderstanding reproduced by the mix of mutual ignorance, concerns about honesty, defending ones ‘team’
, the reactive nature of people, the difficulty in telling genuine & non genuine cases apart, the tenacity & loudness of opportunists & entryists, & a polarized discursive environment.
The fundamental lesson of the thread is that of the emperor wearing no clothes, and the implications for subverting the phenomena so it doesn’t undercut solidarity or delegitimate valid movements
The main point is distinctly NOT ‘both sides bad’, it’s ‘how a minority of bad actors in a hostile media & discursive environment are able to create a mutually reinforcing cycle of distrust, dishonesty & division, which ends up reinforcing the power structure in question’
In effect, it was basically the opposite of both sides bad—there’s only one side with an intrinsic tie to the phenomena at hand (the right) and they’re barely mentioned.
One side is ‘good’ & Only ‘one side’ & minority of non intrinsic actors either posing or in a less frequent case genuinely prejudices on the ‘good side’ are bad
Anyway, alas, the thread is saved so I am going to delete it.
