personal analysis on hannibal lecter.

i think it's safe to say that most, if not all of us, can agree that hannibal is an apathetic character and he perceives himself as intellectually and emotionally superior to the average human. +
he has a distaste for people and he tries to evade them as much as possible. he thinks people are messy and dependant. so, why would he like will? because will also has a distaste for people. he's cynical. +
most of the time, he boils people down to only having selfish and greedy intentions, and with the people he has had to encounter throughout his lifetime, no one can blame him. so, both of them share that similar distaste for people. +
now, don't get me wrong, hannibal still perceives will as messy and he still considers himself to be intellectually and emotionally superior to will. but will is a different kind of messy compared to everyone else. people in general... +
are nothing but walking debris for him to analyse and observe, but will is like... he's like an unfinished painting. uneven brushstrokes of a shaky hand, mismatched colours of wet paint. will's an unfinished masterpiece to him and that's why hannibal finds him so alluring. +
not only that, but, hannibal enjoys playing mind games with people and manipulating them for his benefit. and will, will is the first person who has retaliated. will is the first person to perplex him so. +
hannibal is a naturally intuitive character, always planning one step ahead - but with will, it's different, and that intrigues him. +
to a certain extent, he has no idea what will is thinking and what will plans to do, and for someone who has grown used to being able to analyse people and predict their next action with such ease, will excites him.
thinking of doing a part two to this thread, on HOW hannibal loves will? possibly tomorrow if i have the time. this thread is about why he loves will.
