Doctors are more than happy to remove parts of one’s body and the process to change legal documents is simple and favouring of this. No one seems to question the amount of distress that one is in to even consider the doing of this.
Yet, when it comes to reverting back there are no laws that allow this (in NSW). What happens to those who make a mistake? Who deeply regret what they have done? All because of negligence, a lack of concern, care and questioning.
How can I go out into the world as me when my legal documents reflect something else? I have no legal right to change the sex on my Birth Certificate back to my birth sex.
Why is the law protecting those who wish to medically alter their bodies without question? How about implementing a law that requires rigorous analysis of what would bring a person to want to do this in the first place. Where are MY rights?
