This will get me cancelled by some, I’m sure.
I don’t really care at this point though.

Those who know me, know I’m the kind of person who makes decisions through numbers and enjoys diving sometimes too deep into something. So when 2020 uprooted much of everyone’s lives, and with a lot of relevant data publicly accessible, I sought to analyze things.

I’ve reviewed probably around 300 journal articles on and relating to SARS-COV-2, COVID-19, and the pandemic response, made around 100 models and analyses myself, recreated around 10 models from studies, and debated and discussed results here and elsewhere.

For the most part, there have been a lot of positives in that discussion. I’ve learned a lot and spoken to a lot of interesting people along the way.
This post is not about specific things supporting any of those specific conclusions I’ve come to though.

Among the most important conclusions I’ve come to supported by people much smarter than me and work much more elaborate than my analyses, is that lockdowns have minimal benefits if any,

that they most likely have minimal practical epidemiological consequence, that it’s very possible they have had negative COVID only consequences, and that they have massive widespread horrible external consequences that dramatically outweigh all of that.

I recently came across the attached video. It takes place at a protest in Bologna against a second wave of lockdowns.

One doesn’t need to know Italian to hear the pain and torment fueling her. She screams how lockdown has destroyed her life and she has nothing to feed her 3 year old child. I encourage everyone to watch (and share) it. It’s brought me to tears every time I’ve watched.

Lockdowns are evil.
They aren’t just evil though, lockdowns are among the most evil things humans have ever done – up there with slavery and genocide.

Sadly, often when I’ve mentioned anything factual that remotely alludes to that this has been so horrible, some have baselessly accused me of political partisanship as a Republican somehow.

I am a lifelong Democrat, I’ve never voted for anyone else, I’ve phone banked for Democrats, and I’ve attended party rallies.

Somehow despite agreeing with most policy goals of Democrats, by not agreeing wholeheartedly with one extreme evil that has been perpetuated mostly (though not uniquely) by Democrat politicians,

according to many, that identity is no longer extended to someone like me, and in fact it is somehow antithetical to that identity. This is a shame.

I had been thinking of voting third party or abstaining from this year’s election for some time because I could not bring myself to support and vote for people doing such evil things.

I had hoped Democrats would come to their senses after some time, though that is something I have not seen in any Democratic politicians or their Democratic constituents even as the evils of this become abundantly more and more clear eight months in.

After watching this woman’s anguish, and further seeing the partisan politicization of being against this most evil thing by Democrats, I’ve lost faith in them and decided against that decision.

Regardless of every other thing I may disagree with, I’ve come to realize that if I’m not voting against the most evil thing I’ve ever seen, I am complicit.

On Nov 3rd, I will be voting for Donald Trump for President of the United States and every down ballot Republican candidate.

Many states allow people to overwrite mail-in ballots by voting in person. Having been debating how to vote, I’ve not yet voted, but would stop at nothing to stand by this decision to vote against this most evil of policies.
