If one wanted to give a one-hour lecture to students to show them what assumptions are baked into Unity and how many *other* ways there are of making a "game engine"
what "engines" would you include?
what "engines" would you include?
Inform7, Bitsy, Flixy, Flash, RPGmaker, RenPY, Twine, Ink.......?
I mean, I could spend an hour just speaking the names of every engine that makes different assumptions about "what is game" than Unity.
What's the spanning set that you would use to create the broadest impression of "what is possible" in the viewers mind?
What's the spanning set that you would use to create the broadest impression of "what is possible" in the viewers mind?
Maybe a better way of phrasing it is:
What are the 3-5 engines that you would use to create the widest possibility space of "engine-ness"
and how would you describe each as
"Engine X represents 'a game' as "
