I've been thinking about how much @JoeBiden has evolved from his stance at the CNN Climate Town Hall in Sept 2019, when he dismissed the US as producing "only 15% of emissions," to his now running on the boldest climate plan of any Presidential candidate in American history.

🧵
We have movements to thank for catalyzing that evolution, youth and democratic socialist movements especially, and we also owe a debt to the Inslee staffers who their attentions to Biden once it became clear he would be the nominee.

But at the risk of sounding like an individualistic liberal, I'd also like to extoll what I think I've come to recognize as Biden's character for its role in his ongoing transformation into a climate champion.

Biden is not perfect, but he seems decent. He seems to understand grief and irreparable loss. He is willing to learn and to do the right thing without ego (ie, pick @KamalaHarris for VP even though she was the hardest on him in the primary). He loves.

As we climate people have come to understand, global warming will not be halted with technology alone, but with an inside-outside political force that is based in justice and love.

Maybe Biden's decency can help motivate that force. With Fairness. Compassion. Justice. Love.

It took me a long time to become a climate activist. I saw *An Inconvenient Truth* in 2003, but only got really alarmed about climate in 2010, after my son was born, and even then it took me six or seven years to figure out my role in this fight and really commit to it.

Maybe @JoeBiden has gotten there in the end, this year, somehow from everything that's happening and everyone who has pushed and advocated and taught and led the way.

Or maybe he just sees that climate change is a winning issue and the driver of the next era in economics and culture lol. That's certainly possible.

But I don't really believe that.

I believe that @JoeBiden feels the threat of climate breakdown and responsible for leading the transition to a sustainable economy that runs on safe energy.

I think he's changed

And I identify with his evolution, and I hope we can catalyze that very transformation in millions of people as soon as possible.

And along the way, I'll be proud to have someone who's taking this journey in the White House.
