It honestly breaks my heart any time i see a dvpit participant sign with a schmagent. It feels like my fault. ☹️

Twitter pitch events are a breeding ground for schmagencies and scammy publishers and i beg you all to research.
Please make sure your agent has experience in agenting, or works for an agency that has had experience in agenting before they started. Agencies that spring out of nowhere are dangerous.

I can’t imagine having had to figure out how to agent without other agents guiding me thru.
Note: Being #1 in PM sales categories isn’t an automatic good flag when vast majority of sales are to digital presses that don’t require agents. This isn’t at all a dig at small presses. It’s just that an agent should have a variety of contacts and options for you.
Note: asking for your street address is weird and invasive at the querying stage.

Note: Asking if you only want to publish with a major house implies they are filtering out people whose basic need they can’t meet.
It makes me especially sad to see that it’s a bunch of authors putting on these agent costumes and betraying their fellow author like this.
