1/ #RobertFisk has died. Despite his less than optimal late reporting on #Lebanon, since around 2000, his account of the Lebanese civil war 'Pity the nation' is one of his best works. Recommended.
2/ Robert Fisk's style: empathy and personal presence in his reports, because one cannot empathize if one is absent from the narrative. Fisk did not believe in objective journalism. https://www.sfgate.com/opinion/article/A-reporter-who-thinks-objective-journalism-is-a-2568882.php
3/ #RobertFisk had a PhD in political science from Trinity College, Ireland.
4/ Fisk did some good work on the Syrian civil war too. In Lebanon, his late reporting was deformed by his friendships with the Jumblatts and the Hariris. But he can be forgiven for he is a man of friendships and loyalties.
