On the 2000 concession: "McAlevey quotes a higher-up telling her, 'The Gore campaign has made the decision that this is not the image they want. They don’t want to protest. They don’t want to rock the boat. They don’t want to seem like they don’t have faith in the legal system.'"
It seems to me that 20 years after Gore's ridiculous and premature concession, Democrats are *still* more invested in bolstering childlike faith in the democratic process than they are in squarely facing and vehemently resisting the undemocratic forces of voter suppression.
"...terrified of being portrayed as acting as a mob, the Democrats ceded people power to the GOP — who actually were a mob.."
"To stop a rerun of 2000, says McAlevey, 'Every house of faith, every synagogue, every church needs to be out in the streets with serious, nonviolent action, on a message of ‘don’t let them steal your vote’ … that we must have the right and freedom to vote.'"
All of this to say, my reading of the situation is that the best hope for Trump's defeat lies in a MASSIVE and overwhelming Democrat turnout for in-person voting this Tuesday particularly in battleground states. If Biden doesn't lead Tuesday night, he CANNOT be trusted to fight.
More to the point: If Biden does not have a clear lead in votes counted by Tuesday night, then Democratic Party leadership cannot be trusted to pursue a strategy of massive, non-violent protest and resistance to ensure that every vote is counted. That task will be left to us.
It would be nice if the fools running the DNC learned SOMETHING from 2000 and from 2016, but it would be foolish to count on it. History shows that the Democratic leadership cannot be trusted and have little desire and resolve to win. As per usual, we are our only hope.
