Los Alamitos -65% (767 -500); Mission Viejo req reduction not listed on cover sheet; supporting docs not provided online; Draft was 2211; more here: http://scag.ca.gov/programs/Documents/Appeals/MissionViejo-RHNA-Appeal-Request.pdf; Newport Beach -50% (4832 -2408); Unincorp OC - 47.4% (10375 - 4,922); 3/n
RSM -63% (679 - 426); Tustin -25.4% (6777 - 1718); Westminster -87.6% (9733 - 8,526); Winner is Yorba Linda (where the city's motto is #TheLandOfGraciousLiving) w/ -91% (2410 - 2200) ; 4/n;
Where do they propose all these units go? Santa Ana, of course! Garden Grove --> SNA +7087 units; Irvine --> SNA +10K units; Newport Beach --> SNA +7087; Again, YL takes the cake: Yorba Linda --> SNA +23,167 units. SNA's draft # = 3087; 47.5% of those are low- mod income. 5/n
Commentary: Why was SNA's draft # so low? In part because they already have a high % of poor people; new AFFH reqs are seeking to dismantle segregation by income level. This looks like a request by the most affluent cities in OC to keep poor people in Santa Ana. 6/n
Commentary 2: Note none of the appealing cities asked for units to be sent to Anaheim, Fullerton, or Orange, all well-served by Metrolink. Anaheim is well on its way to upzoning and adding a 1000s more housing w/ the redevelopment of Angels Stadium & Honda Center; 7/n
Commentary 3: Fullerton has the most heavily used train station in OC surrounded by acres of parking. We ask a lot of Santa Ana. It bears the brunt of meeting needs of homeless residents. Why can't those with so much share the load with those who have the heaviest burden? 8/8
It also interesting to see who did not appeal their draft RHNA numbers-- Anaheim w/ 17K+; Riverside w/ 18K+; Rancho Cucamonga w/ 10K+; Buena Park w/ nearly 9K; Ontario w/ 20K+.
