None of this makes a lot of sense until you add in Harper's IDU. Modi's BJP is a member of the IDU, and like the CPC here, has been engaging in many of the same tactics. /7
What the connection of this particular actor is with the BJP is perhaps not so clear. I can put good odds that there's a connection though. /8
The CPC has no doubt been seeking new ways to attack Trudeau in the wake of a barely noticeable blip in the polling numbers since the election of Erin O'Toole as their new leader. /9
This would, of course give the opportunity to attack Trudeau as damaging Canada's image on the world stage.
... and that would be something the BJP would be quite happy to participate in, even if it's through a tame propaganda outlet.
