Last night, non-police #SpecialConstables in Eastern #Ontario, while on foot patrol on a premise within their mandate, intervened in a robbery in progress (2 on 1) after hearing the victim calling for help, knives and purple fentynal were found ...2/ 8
...On the accuseds' persons following the arrest, which they resisted violently. Charges laid, transferred to Police. Later, SPCs arrested a male for assault, who also violently resisted, charges laid. Then...3/8
...another male was arrested for threatening to assault someone, violently resisted arrest. Was a vulnerable person, released and assisted home. Later, SPCs arrested a male for impaired driving (driver entered 'no entry' area of property), charges laid, transferred to Police. 4/8
These were just some of the calls one platoon responded to in one night. In all cases, SPCs resolved the immediate confrontations and assisted the victims of these terrifying crimes. Not one suspect (or officer,
) was injured as a result of arrest, fortunately. 5/8

Where required, suspects transferred to Police for further processing. Police were alleviated from responding to the many calls for disturbances/other non-reportable calls to be available to respond to calls for service throughout the entire city... #teamwork 6/8
but the public using the services within the Special Constables' jurisdiction were kept safe by these officers, who were at the ready to help. The system works. SPCs are integral #partnersinpublicsafety
