Yesterday, I tweeted support for NP, PA, and CRNAs after AMA’s negative tweet.
Over 12 anonymous “physicians” either DM’d me or commented that they don’t consider NP, PA, or CRNA part of a care team. Personally attacked me.
They Said bc I’m Med student I cant comment.

Well, then I will comment as a patient.
An NP in a very rural Minnesota county delivered my brother, sister, and me. That same NP continues to care for my family there.
There are 2 physicians in that county.

Growing up, I only ever saw an NP. Physicians in rural America are hard to come by & inundated with complex rural patients.
When I was 6, I told NP I wanted to be a nurse for Halloween. She said, “I think u should be doctor” &gave me this.
I always loved healthcare.

I realize “scope of practice” needs continuous review in medicine. At all education levels (Med school, residency, etc.) and all care types.
But to insinuate PA, NP, CRNA’s don’t belong on a care team is asinine & disrespectful.
I am thankful an NP believed in me.
