Here is the memorial at the centre of E 38th Street and Chicago Avenue. It was set up not long after the protests and was the site of a eulogy for George Floyd. @globalnews
The place where George Floyd was killed is now covered by a tent and roped off. It’s surrounded with tons of flowers and tributes to Floyd. It’s seen as a sacred place in the community. @globalnews
What’s fascinating about the area is everyone has a role here. There are people that take donations for supplies, people who hand out essentials like water and toiletries, and they hold community meals every night. There is also a medical tent at this gas station. @globalnews
Here’s a bus stop that has since been turned into a book and toy share. @globalnews
. @HeatherYourex spoke with a community organizer and volunteer at George Floyd square. We’ll have more on the fallout of George Floyd’s death and it’s impact on the community in the coming days on @GlobalNational. @globalnews
