People have *always* said that men/boys have become too soft because they've been exposed to too much femaleness and the lack of strong male role models. Complaints like Lindsay's were literally why the boy scouts were founded, over a century ago. https://twitter.com/ConceptualJames/status/1322613189079609359
Part of the reason is that masculinity is always fragile.
By which I mean, masculinity always has all sorts of rules (Be good at sports. Don't wear dresses. Get laid. Don't cry. etc etc), and we're taught that breaking the rules means we've in some sense ceased to be real men.

I don't think that all "masculine" men are driven by a fear of losing their masculinity. Some guys are just naturally "masculine."
But the guys who make a show of accusing other guys of being too weak and feminine? They're almost always driven by their own fear and insecurity.
