This is a shame-free thread; we all are just trying our best to do our best. But if you are looking for alternative places to shop/“gifts that give back,” here are a few of my faves! Feel free to add your own ~~
First up, BOOKS! A great gift for anyone. Local used bookstores will often let you submit a “wishlist” of books & they’ll call you when one of them comes in. If you don’t want to wait, use @BWBooks! All of their books ship free and they have tons in the ~$5 range

If you want to buy a book new, not used (a great choice!) check with your local bookstore! They can usually order anything you want and are VERY helpful. They also often sell stuff like puzzles, stationary, etc
If you can’t find a local bookstore, use @Bookshop_Org!

. @UncommonGoods is my go-to for hard-to-buy-for people. They have tons of unique, cool, and kooky things made by independent artisans, at tons of different price points. And this year they’re highlighting their Black makers
