Why "Cherry bomb" is where @tylerthecreator took his game to a whole new level.
A THREAD: (plus a little limited edition flex)
Before we begin i would like to say THIS IS MY OPINION. You can disagree and i respect that but this is my take on cherry bomb.
I would also want to recommend watching the Cherry Bomb documentary on youtube cuz its good af

LETS GO!!!!!!
Every time tyler comes up in a convo, "Flower boy", his 2017 album is brought up, because its amazing, and many people believe that its also where tyler stepped up his game and got more intimate with the listeners
But I don't think this is where it began
When"Cherry Bomb"is brought up, many people place it last in they're Tyler discog ranking, but you gotta give credit to some of the components on this one that made Tyler, The Creator what we all know and love in 2020
The first aspect of Cherry Bomb that developed in tyler over the years and is the main reason why i believe tyler evolved the way he did is the production.
Tyler brings to the table many experimental beats and tracks that shows his personal touch and influence (1/2)
Another aspect of production of course will be the instruments that tyler record for his songs (like find your wings and fucking young).
My fav scene in the documentary is when he hears the string band plays find your wings for the first time and has the biggest smile ever (2/2)
The second aspect of Cherry Bomb that really got me was the lyrical level. Tyler always had a way around words but some of the topics he refers to during the album, like in RUN, where he talks about drive- by shootings, the debate of dating a younger girl on FUCKING YOUNG (1/2)
Or when he goes head-to-head with kanye and wayne, two very lyrically acclaimed artists on SMUCKERS, as he raps his ass off on his verse alone, and in the exchange between himself and wayne (one of my fav exchanges) (2/2)
The last aspect, which i personally feel about this album, is the soul tyler puts into this one.
Throughout the entire movie you can really see in Tyler's eyes that he see and breath his music every second of the day, while having the time of his life doing (1/2)
What he loves the most- making music. You can really hear the thoughts behind the music on Cherry Bomb, one of the thing i appreciate the most about music as a whole
And i think thats it about the greatest fucking album since the days of sound.
If you got this far, thanks. I do those thread mostly because i want to experiment writing about hip hop but every like and read means the world to me.
@tylerthecreator if you ever have the chance to read this- I love you as a person and your music. You're one of the people that change my life the most in the last couple of years and you dont even know about it. So thanks.
