Since it’s on my mind and it’s a Sunday, let’s talk about what to do and what not to do as a content creator, especially when it comes to using #sponsored, #ad, and #codeprovidedby
I’ll start by using myself as an example. I’m a Disney influencer, and so as you can imagine they have strict rules if you receive anything, and embargos. Let’s look at this post from earlier this year. https://twitter.com/maria__giesela/status/1258044405090484226
- I made sure to hashtag the title
- I tagged the author
- a quick summary of the book
- and utilized #disneypartner over #ad or #sponsored
1) Im not required to post anything I get, but I do and so I want to highlight the author (in a streamer’s case, the studio and game)
2) The quick summary helps other readers decide if they want to read the story (streamers = give your audience info)
3) using “Disney partner” over ad or sponsored helps people understand that I was not PAID (KEYWORD), to post the content. It was given to me out of good faith that i would enjoy it and so I shared on my own volition.
I get that in the streaming world, using #ad or #sponsored looks good to other people you ACTUALLY want to partner or work with, but legally it can potentially cause a mess. So #codeprovidedby still shows that your stream is doing well, bc the agency finds your work entertaining
