This statement on gender was never LDS doctrine before 1995, but now it is because the Q-15 claim it was doctrine before 1995. This is gas lighting, not revelation.

In introducing the Family Proclamation to the church for the first time, Gordon B. Hinckley stated it was a “reaffirmation of standards, doctrines, and practices… which the prophets, seers, and revelators of the church have repeatedly stated throughout its history”
In 2017 Dallin Oaks re-confirmed the proclamation was a “reemphasis” and “restatement” of “gospel truths”
But if the Family Proclamation is a reaffirmation of doctrines, where are those original declarations of the eternal gender doctrine?

Answer: Those declarations don’t exist.
#LDS doctrine posits that we existed as “intelligences” in the past eternity, before becoming spirits, then mortals. BUT “The question of whether prespirit intelligence had individual identity and consciousness remains unanswered”
Joseph Fielding Smith wrote the following and this is where the LDS doctrine of intelligences stand today: “.. our writers have endeavored to explain what an intelligence is, but to do so is futile”
JFS’s teachings on post-mortal life also conflict with the concept of eternal gender: “…men and women will, in these kingdoms, be …neither man nor woman.”

The TK Smoothie doctrine puts the kibosh on the idea of unfettered fornication in the Terrestrial and Telestial kingdom.
And as the @Sltrib recently points out – the proclamation’s gender statement isn’t even valid in this life. https://twitter.com/sltrib/status/1320066777347428358?s=20
The proclamation’s claim that eternal gender is essential and tied to eternal identity or purpose does not match with existing #LDS teachings on pre or post mortal life as well as the reality of mortal life.
Clearly the Family Proclamation claim that "gender is eternal" is not a reiteration of previous doctrine.

The Q-15 are dishonest in claiming it is. And because they CAN’T link it to God – it is a philosophy of old men mingled with scripture.
