Israeli PMs need to be seen as having close ties with POTUS. When Clinton was hostile to Bibi it damaged him in 1999 election and likewise his friendship with Trump has helped him in 2019-20 elections. But he also managed to leverage Obama’s hostility towards him in his favor>

Unlike Clinton who was already loved by Israelis when Bibi 1st came to power in 1996 Obama was still largely undefined when Bibi came back in 2009 and didn’t go out of his way to endear himself to Israelis, pointedly not visiting during his 1st term. He gave Bibi an opening there

Obama made it easy for Bibi to portray him through his proxies as hostile & anti-Israel, making their hostility look like “Bibi standing up to a hostile president safeguarding Israel’s vital interests”. He made Obama’s hostility into an electoral virtue. Now do the same for Biden

It won’t be easy to portray Biden with a staunch pro-Israel record as hostile which is why Bibi’s proxies are instead saying he’s weak and is being manipulated by the “antisemitic” progressive wing of the Democratic Party. Either way, Bibi’s preparing seriously for a Trump defeat
