Hey hey hey it's me ur old pal Elle flailing in to remind everyone that not liking sports doesn't make u smarter/better/more interesting/superior to people who do like sports!!!
It's totally 10000% cool to not like sports!!! But it's not cool to put people who enjoy sports down!! This isn't Revenge of the Nerds friendos, you don't have to show them jocks what for
We live in hell and if some of us find a scrap of enjoyment in watching dudes throw a ball to other dudes than that's cool!!! It's fine!!
And yes there is a lot to criticize when it comes to sports/various sports-related cultures! And thoughtful people who talk about sports DO criticize things! It's a whole discussion that involves things like race and access and poverty and misogyny and ableism
Some of my favorite sportswriters/analysts have really really good social justice takes that incorporate sports fandom and what it means to love something that can be hella exploitative. It's a nuanced conversation that deserves more than "lol sportsball r bad"
But of course you don't need to care about it one way or the other if you don't like sports! Again, that's cool!

Just don't be a dismissive jerk!
