Addicts used to tell me they didn't care if they died of an OD. They would tell me they felt worthless, like their lives meant nothing to the saviours trying to cash in with career achievements, cool things to put on their CVs.
Who actually cares enough to want to relieve the suffering and address the underlying trauma?
Watching traumatised individuals perform venipunctures with insulin syringes/needles isn't really why went to nurses training, tbh.
If I tried to start an IV with a diabetic needle in the hospital, I would be disciplined for improper and risky technique.
