a few people have asked how i got into music PR (& how to themselves), so mini thread for ease https://twitter.com/soulohlove/status/1322233503241613319
got an internship 'randomly' at a TV PR company whilst in uni, as part of my degree i didnt know what PR was when i started lol
i got the basics at this internship and a few years (i think) later, i started doing my own personal (free) PR work for an unsigned artist
this experience allowed me to get an internship at a record label doing online PR for artists. i've found in the music industry, when they're hiring they want to know that you already have an active interest in the field youre applying for
when that internship was finishing, i was able to get a job doing it full time a few weeks later because i was working with my soon-to-be boss on a campaign already, and she had her own company!

build a contact list of relevant folks to pitch to/engage with when you have a suitable artist they may want to write about.

those folks can potentially advise when a position is available when a company is hiring, because they already have relationships there! (this is why it's important to engage in a non-weird way lol)
