What helped you through the first lockdown?

Here are a few little things that helped me... 🧵 THREAD 🧵
There are TV shows and then there’s @SchittsCreek

Season one feels like one long pilot but by season 3 you’ll be obsessed and then sobbing when it ends.

It’s farce with fabulousness, gently deconstructing complex ā€˜personal politics’ alongside a glittery drizzle of pep talks šŸ“ŗ
Find local delis and grocers that deliver.

Supporting local businesses is obviously a very good thing but many of them have so many delicious things that can make your day better.

Post-Zoom or post-walk freshly ground pour over coffee and bar of Vego or @TonysChocoUK_IE šŸ«šŸ¤¤
Prune your social feed.

šŸ”„ Mute lots of people/terms that cause ā€œdoom scrollingā€

😻 Add some nature & art: @NOWNESS @NatGeo @BBCEarth @unsplash @brainpicker are must follows for endless lushness.

Follow more selfcare and mindful accounts.

However, We’re Not Really Strangers is next level. So subtly thought-provoking and inspiring.

Especially adore the safe space created by vulnerable Sundays šŸ™ https://instagram.com/werenotreallystrangers?igshid=ga7sl9zzlzol
Invest in something to make yourself nice coffee at home.

You can get an @AeroPressHQ for just over £20 now - it basically makes a syringe of coffee.

Or a stainless steel pour over like this for about £15.

For capsules, I adore @RoastworksDevon who deliver.
I assumed weighted blankets were just mumbo-jumbo but have found that mine really helps with the dread.

By putting 150 bean bags across your body, it’s like a gentle, prolonged hug.

Feel like I’m finally sleeping a little deeper too.

Most breweries deliver.

You can get some interesting bundles and deals, as well as picking up some good pint glasses for your cupboard.

I’d recommend

Stretch!
Join the cult of...

@yogawithadriene (& Bengi 🐩 )

Her archive of classes are free on YouTube and it’s been a bit of a revelation for me (and millions of people.

Even the 10min neck stretches are 100% worth making time for.

🧘 Try this:
Lockdown has meant I’ve heard A LOT more radio.

Working there means listen to @BBC6Music all the time but I’ve loved dipping into a lot more @bbc5live & @mrjamesob on @LBC and trying loads more shows on @BBCSounds (there’s 80k hours!!!)

Plus šŸŒ šŸŽ¶ @kexp @kcrw @WNYC @triplej
Having conversations through music is always important.

During the first lockdown I made a few people playlists, including this for human bomb of kindness @karmabertelsen to run to. It also works for a mid-morning moodlift. https://open.spotify.com/playlist/5vbUDBmDyY7xbW6ORgHpao?si=AB_Hf3mESdyuO6mhGGuZ_Q
Finding a record that feels like a new home can be really calming.

During lockdown I’ve been happily lost inside the Spotless Mind wooziness of @gia_margaret’s latest and prescribing it to people.

Have you considered acupressure?

I hadn’t and the idea of a bed of nails (think: plastic ridges) freaked me out but this has been quite a transformative Ā£20ish purchase.

20 mins on your back and you can almost dose off. Honestly.
