The Sequel Trilogy wasn’t particularly interested in the ancillary content. Books. Games. It was big enough to chart its own course and be its own thing. The Mandalorian has established itself as part of that ancillary content. And that’s kind of a big deal.
I don’t think it hit me till now. With the first episode of Season 2 #TheMandalorian 
has just made 5 years of published canon relevant to live action. The sky’s the limit. ANY character can appear now (cough Rae Sloane cough). Print is no longer the outlier in this franchise.

So when people use fan service as a criticism of the Aftermath and KOTOR Easter eggs in #TheMandalorian I respectfully disagree. I see it as this franchise FINALLY beginning to realize the promise it made 5 years ago to expand storytelling in a truly big way.
