A small memory of Marius Zaliukas, but an enduring one nonetheless. It was the captain's press call ahead of the 2012 Scottish Cup final and Zaliukas and James McPake were photographed in full kit with the trophy on the Grassmarket. Interviews after were in a hotel nearby. 1/4
As the media, club and cup officials waited to cross the busy road, Marius strode right out into the traffic with his arms out wide and stopped the cars in both directions, then beckoned everyone across. The looks on the drivers' faces were a picture. 2/4
You could tell he was never a huge fan of doing pre-match press. He gamefully played along for about 5 minutes then without warning stood up, told us "I have to go, I have a chicken in the oven" and, still in full kit, strode out the room. 3/4
I only knew him in a limited capacity but his sense of fun shone even when he was doing his utmost to shut down our pesky questions. He has passed away at the same age I am, and also with a young family. It's an unimaginable tragedy and all my thoughts are with his loved ones.
