I get the impression that Anglo-Canadians *in general* don't grasp the probs that other countries have in respect to multiculturalism. It works well in
& so Anglo-Canadians subsequently wonder: why cant it work well in other countries too? They don't grasp their own uniqueness https://twitter.com/Ayaan/status/1322357846583861248

This is the irony: Anglo-Canadian cosmopolitanism results in a particularly Anglo-Canadian form of parochialism.
Why isnt the rest of the world more like Anglo-Canada? Anglo-Canadians wonder. Well, bc it isnt Anglo-Canada. That would be the primary reason I would suggest.
The Anglo-Canadian brand of cosmopolitanism hides their own particular form of parochialism to themselves. Its a peculiar thing.
Trudeau’s implied attitude towards France is basically: be less French & be more like Anglo-Canada. Betraying his own ignorance & arrogance in the process. France will never be Anglo-Canada, nor should it be.
Anglo-Canadians don't seem to realise how fundamentally Anglo-Canadian so many of their assumptions are. They are not self-aware in that sense. Macron is not under any such illusions. He knows how French he is.
Trudeau isn't ‘throwing Macron under the bus for woke points’ or ‘virtue signalling,’ he doesn't grasp what makes Anglo-
unique & therefore doesn't understand why
is not more like Anglo-
& therefore thinks
have brought this situ on themselves. https://twitter.com/NinaDSchick/status/1322659742335045632?s=20

He’s wrong but the reason why he’s wrong is rooted in his Anglo-Canadian-ness, something which Anglo-Canadians hide from themselves. Its not hidden from non-Anglo-Canadians, only to Anglo-Canadians themselves.
I’d liken this cultural anosognosia that the Anglo-Canadians are afflicted with to the wider cultural anosognosia the West in general is afflicted with in respect to its relationship to its Christian heritage.
Have you noticed that the Islamists are attacking churches & cathedrals & priests? Why do you think that is?
The irony is that the Islamists see the West more clearly than Westerners see themselves. We can leave Christianity behind but Christianity does not leave us behind.
Westerners kid themselves that their values are universal but they are fundamentally Christian in their origins.
You might never have been in a church, but the Church is in you.
‘The key to understanding Islamic fundamentalism. Islamic fundamentalism is a reaction against Western liberalism – a reaction which derives from the fact that, behind liberalism, Islam perceives Christianity at work.’

‘It is unfortunate and even dangerous that the West is so little conscious of the connection. For it cuts Western culture off from its roots, and sometimes weakens both its ability and inclination to defend its own values.’
