Just watching the COVID briefing again from a science communication perspective. So many basic errors in the "graph section"
1. Far too technical for the intended audience
2. Graphs don't properly fit on the screen
3. Axis labels missing or hard to read 1/4
4. Very confusing choice of graph type - not intuitive in any way in many cases
5. Excessive labeling on some that was impossible to follow
6. Talking to graphs rather than using graphs to support points
7. Little consolidation or flow between points
8. Tiny font for notes 2/4
9. The colourful age-infection graphs are covering a vital point but my guess is most people gave up on them - there are soooooo many better ways to show this, or....
10. .... just tell us some things without a graph because...
11... not every point needs a graph 3/4

The presentation overall was an absolutely perfect example of how not to present complex data to a lay audience. Given the wealth of #scicomm expertise in the UK it is staggering that these presentations are still as bad as they are 4/4
