It’s SO HARD to get teens to understand the best practices for covid when their Dad’s regime never had a national strategy about the pandemic when he knew how serious it was! Ugh it’s like kids just do NOT understand what it’s like to let 220,000 people die! Right?? Lollrsk8z! https://twitter.com/surgeon_general/status/1322655232086712322
We’ve been really bad about this - the image rehabilitation of GWB has been particularly sickening to watch - but this time around we need to aggressively make sure none of the motherfuckers can ever show their murdering faces in public ever again.
It boils my blood to see the US Surgeon General being so cutesy online about how it’s hard to communicate covid rules to kids. MF it is LITERALLY YOUR JOB to communicate best health practices, and you stood around smelling your farts while your boss was like “masks r gay lol”
By the time Trump is (hopefully) out of office we’ll be approaching WW2 death numbers, with most of them being preventable. Think about how much energy pop culture has put into WW2 for 70 fucking years (and somehow still missed the ANTI-FASCIST memo).
Will we talk about covid the way we talk about WW2? I worry we won’t, because it doesn’t have the clean language of battle, and we don’t like stories where maybe the enemy was within us the whole time.
But I hope as things change we find a way to talk about hundreds of thousands of dead Americans and are willing to acknowledge what a colossal failure it all was. There was no external enemy. There was no need for any of this. We’ve done a terrible thing.
The people in charge of America - 328 MILLION PEOPLE! - all of the folks in charge - are EVIL. It’s hard to comprehend, and I get that - we want to think “well one dude at the top is really dumb” but no, it is a system of EVIL and we HAVE to confront that.
If he loses on Tuesday no one wants to think about this shit ever again. I get it. But we HAVE TO. We HAVE to stay mad. We have to make sure there are consequences. Everyone who let this happen needs to suffer.
If I seem too angry, ask yourself why you aren’t.
