I found out I was pregnant with my first child just as the UK went into lockdown in March. The past seven months been v tough for pregnant women, just as they have for many people in this country. It's been lonely, isolating and you really don't want Covid in your 3rd trimester.
The new rules say "You can visit outdoor public places with the people you live with... or 1 person from another household". Which means that I can't go and meet anyone with the baby. And I'll be (trying at least) to breastfeed. So the isolation becomes more extreme.
No offence to my baby, but they're not going to be great conversation. The idea that a baby counts is odd - there have been exclusions of under 12s in Wales and Scotland - why has the government not thought of this? Is this what happens when there aren't enough women at the top?
The rules do say this. But eg NCT classes have been moved online anyway so they don't do that much about isolation. What I want - bluntly - is to be able to see a close friend with the baby, just to walk in the park - and technically mothers won't be able to do that.
