Today marks the halfway point in my journey, 6 months into running http://carmats.co.uk . Key stats so far:

šŸ“ˆ 12,698 orders
šŸ’° Ā£459,534 in sales
šŸ‘Øā€šŸ’» 46% of the way to Ā£1 million

But it’s not all about the sales or sexy graphs.

Here’s some things I’ve learnt along the way šŸ‘‡
It’s OK to be overwhelmed.

It’s been an absolute rollercoaster, I honestly never expected the results to come so quickly.

It’s felt at times like I can’t keep up with everything I need to do. And the pressure at times felt too much.

But that’s OK, there’s always tomorrow!
I wanted to do as much of the business as I could myself, so much so I almost got to breaking point.

Looking back, I have no idea why I wanted to.

So find people to help you!

Now I have the team from @evolutednm helping out plus some others.
Invest in processes & automation early.

I did this quite early on but not early enough.

Now I have pre-written responses for 90% of customer queries and a support system that can be outsourced.

This let me go on holiday last week whilst customer service & sales kept flowing.
If something isn’t working, then pause & reflect.

When I had issues around lead-time and fulfilment, I paused all marketing to allow my supplier to catch up.

Yes that cost some £, but stopped me bringing on customers that were going to be disappointed with lead-times.
Treating people well brings amazing loyalty

Customers are amazed when you treat them fairly. If a customer has an issue, it’s sorted out no questions asked.

This is often met with ā€œAre you serious? You’d do that? I’ll leave a review right nowā€
You can’t please everyone

Some people are born to moan and complain, that’s just their nature.

DHL lost an order this week, we upgraded them FOC and sent out a second set.

He complained they weren’t what he’d expect if he was paying for the upgrade.

Well, you’re not mate 🤯
Not everything will work.

There are campaigns I’ve run that haven’t generated the results or been profitable.

You don’t know that until you’ve tried though, so as long as cash flow allows, I’ll keep trying!
Ignore the doubters.

One I didn’t expect but I’ve had my fair share of negative comments or people suggesting I’m not being honest.

Absolute bollocks, šŸ–•to those people
If I can do it, anyone can. You just need to get started.

The biggest barrier is not starting something because you don’t feel it’s the right time, or that you want to have all your ducks in a row.

I took a gamble and it paid off.
#Lockdown2 isn’t ideal but perhaps it will give me the time to
launch http://vanmats.co.uk  šŸ’Ŗ

Bring on the next 6 months and smashing that £1 million target, hopefully by 50% or more!
