What I wish more people understood about imposter syndrome:

It isn't just feeling like you aren't good enough to stand with your peers. It is also feeling that no matter how hard you work, you won't achieve - and furthermore - don't DESERVE to achieve the same level of success.
For me, added to #ADHD & depression, it can honestly be debilitating.

It can keep you awake at night, make you spiral into sadness EVEN AS you are thrilled for your friends' and peer's successes.

I've spent way too much time in that space. I know I'm not alone.
What some people see as a confidence, success, talent, & achievement, many of us - definitely myself - see as smoke & mirrors, an image displayed to others; while inside, we want to curl up & cry, since mostly all I can see is my failures & lack of success that I dreamed of.
So please:

Keep this in mind the next time you immediately respond to something with any variation of, "But you're so successful!/You have it so good!/I wish I had <x thing>!"

Also - think about it before you try to criticize, hurt, or demean ANYONE.

Period.
