Up late researching mobility pricing... From: https://movmi.net/congestion-pricing-vancouver/

A thread... and only those I follow can reply on this one. Just to make my life a bit easier.

Yes, it's true this is a way to put the equivalent of a #PublicTransit fare on driving. Sounds good, but most transit fares are not distance-based. Most mobility pricing schemes is distance-based.

The problem is, I am scared sh-tless this is gonna become the @BCNDP's HST. You know, that well intended tax of the BCLiberals that forced former Premier Gordon Campbell to resign. To help explain, plz watch .

This one starring @ShachiKurl.

We're getting the same warnings now that @ShachiKurl warned about. Like from @kris_sims on @jimgoddard3:

Don't believe me... a graphic from that link:

I know Mayor @BradWestPoCo is... opposed. We know Brad West and @BowinnMa are part of the same "Brat Pack" hated by money launderers, Andrew Wreckinson, anti-transit people, and Jane Thornywalte.

Here's @BradWestPoCo at Mayor's Council in 2018:

Also here's @BradWestPoCo in SurroundSound about mobility pricing because he's "The Mayor of Vancolour":

"For me, it's a nonstarter." Warns "some people have eyes on doing that". Worried about affordability as am I as affordability = electability!!

Then we've seen no plan to address the regressivity of this tax. This tax is going to be embedded in everything you buy - groceries, flowers, packages, and services. Also this tax will harm service workers like grocers, florists, servers, more.

That's not progressive policy.

Finally, where are the following people on this proposal?

Premier @jjhorgan
Deputy Premier & Finance Minister @carolejames
Minister @selinarobinson
AND OF COURSE...
Superhero @BowinnMa.

These four are still caretakers. But should please warn off Mayor @kennedystewart.

With all of that, I love the eBuses and bus lane priority in the climate change proposals on deck. Among other ideas. But the mobility pricing is a no-go.

I await @kris_sims' performance at @VanCityClerk Tuesday.

FYI: @CambieReport, @fabulavancouver, @ShaunaSylvester
