First, they are pretending that Rivkah was merely quoting from Israel Panner's (aka I. Rennap) writing. But, she continued this historical framing in a modern context: "I mean, this is entirely relevant to our moment right. We've just had a day when, and, you know, years, when antisemitism and 'The Jewish Question' as we might call it... have been used to distract us." 3/

'The Jewish Question' has a long history that began as an academic debate about Jews as a minority group in a non-Jewish society. There were other such 'questions' such as Polish, Irish, Armenian, etc. 4/

The general framing of these debates were often replete with crude stereotypes, racism, religious intolerance, and all the usual caveats of reading historical texts. They were very much 'of their time'. 5/

Marx's 'On The Jewish Question' is one of the more notorious examples of the genre: "What is the secular basis of Judaism? Practical need, self-interest. What is the worldly religion of the Jew? Huckstering. What is his worldly God? Money." 6/

"Money is the jealous god of Israel, in face of which no other god may exist. Money degrades all the gods of man – and turns them into commodities…. The bill of exchange is the real god of the Jew. His god is only an illusory bill of exchange…." 7/

"The chimerical nationality of the Jew is the nationality of the merchant, of the man of money in general. The Jew has emancipated himself in a Jewish manner, not only because he has acquired financial power, but also because, through him and also apart from him..." 8/

"...money has become a world power and the practical Jewish spirit has become the practical spirit of the Christian nations. The Jews have emancipated themselves insofar as the Christians have become Jews." 9/

"...In the final analysis, the emancipation of the Jews is the emancipation of mankind from Judaism."

This is why you'll see some self-described "socialist Jews" leaping to the defense of Rivkah's repugnantly flippant use of it in the modern context. 10/

If the holy prophet Marx himself used this phrasing, then it must be kosher (also conveniently ignoring just how obviously and obscenely racist Marx's analysis actually is to modern eyes). 11/

But what the comrades are also conveniently ignoring is that the most notorious example of the genre is the one known as Endlösung der Judenfrage, The Final Solution to the Jewish Question - the Nazi 'answer' to the 'Jewish Question'. 12/

Centuries of obsessional 'debates' about 'The Jewish Question' culminated in a 'Final Solution' that led to the deaths of 6 million Jews. As a result, today, the world population of Jews has still not recovered to pre-Endlösung levels. 13/

Post-War, the 'Jewish Question' is now mainly a subject of Holocaust scholarship and a talking point on Far Right forums where it is often abbreviated to 'JQ' sandwiched in between Pepe the Frog memes and David Duke quotes. 14/

Not long ago, a white supremacist middle school teacher in Florida lost her job for hosting a podcast where the 'JQ' was a regular topic of discussion. Alt-right forums regularly obsess about it. We all know what they think the answer is to the 'question'. 15/

What Rivkah did was reintroduce a poisonous meme to a faction that has harboured and protected some of the worst antisemites in the Labour movement. She kosherised it as an acceptable framing for talking about Jews today, to its largely ignorant and toxic following. 16/

A movement whose former Director was head of Labour's Disputes Panel and who had used her position to protect a Holocaust denier council candidate from sanction. She was still in post as a Director of Momentum as late as April last year. 17/

Perhaps the most pernicious & damaging part of this whole saga has been the role of shameless irresponsible Jews like Rivkah who, whether through sheer ideological blindness, ignorance or malice, readily kosherise antisemitism to receptive audiences of the toxic Left. 18/

Mere days after the EHRC report finding the Labour Party unlawfully discriminated and harassed Jews, for such people to blithely resurrect such hateful memetically racist framings back into public discourse is contemptible bordering on venal. 19/

I can not stress enough how profoundly irresponsible it is for Rivkah and her fanbase to resurrect this sickening discourse in such a decontextualised fashion to such a malevolent political movement directly after such a shameful but important day for the Labour movement. 20/

Anyone who indulges it, excuses it, tries to judenfrage-splain it away as a legitimate framing in a modern context is worthy of nothing but the deepest contempt. /ENDS
