I didn’t sleep the whole of last night. Not even a flinch of my eye. This is so unusual cos I even took my CBD oil that quickly lures me to sleep. Well, while I was up, I watched a worship session with Taya of Hillsong, then bumped into WAY MAKER winning the SONG OF THE YEAR.
I saw the performance for Dove Awards where Sinach sang alongside Leeland and other known gospel musicians. Sinach’s story, especially with this ‘WAY MAKER’ is one of purpose, promise and grace. Fun fact: I NEVER LIKED THAT SONG. Never! But...
It began to speak to me when I heard alternate versions of it. This isn’t to diminish Sinach’s original version, but Leeland’s version drove me to tears very first day I watched it on YouTube.
When Sinach dropped WAYMAKER, she said God told her it was going to be an anthem.
When Sinach dropped WAYMAKER, she said God told her it was going to be an anthem.
Guys, I’m pretty sure doubt slipped into her heart after a year or two when other songs were topping the charts. It took FOURRRRR years for one song to be translated into over 50 languages, sang by allllll the biggest gospel bands and most acts.
As an audiophile & a music enthusiast, I’ll say that WAYMAKER is such a simple song. It’s not a song with exceptional lyrical formation, yet it’s been sung all over the world. The mix wasn’t the best, yet God kept his promise after almost 5 years. That song kept me during COVID.
WAYMAKER blew up; it went farther than Sinach as a person. Intense greatness is when people know your works than they know you. I have just one message: obey God, He never fails.
That stuff might be trashy to you or even some folks around you. You might be so much of a perfectionist that it seems too basic to you, but God wants to work through the simplicity of your obedience; not the dexterity in your disobedience.
I am sure that if Sinach was going to get that song blow up this way through promotions, it would cost millions of dollars, yeah, or might just never happen. When you obey God, you give Him the opportunity to make your life a wonder.
Again, I want to remind you that Sinach is not the best gospel vocalist, she might even be on the list. I’m stating this so you see how God uses ‘unqualified’ people. And when God calls you to a purpose, everything will fall in line. Leave the ‘HOWS’ to him & focus on your ‘WHY’
I don’t know who this speaks to, but I pray you receive strength and boldness to follow the path you’ve been called to. Do that stuff, and if you’ve done it already, have patience; the promise is for the future and it’s never the future until it’s fulfilled.
PS: it’s more than WAYMAKER topping the charts though. It’s the fact that it finally became the anthem God told her it’ll be; in the lips of believers. The song has been a sound of relief & reassurance throughout this year, especially with COVID-19. God said it; He will do it
