@Abbaacabsa Is not the Oromo cause premised on the historical understanding that the #Ethiopia/n empire-state was "invented" through a violent subjection of previously independent communities (like the Oromos, the Wolaytas, the Somalis, the Ben Shangul etc) by Menelik? https://twitter.com/SamuelTsegai1/status/1322675995904823309
How is Menelik then a traitor to an empire-state that he himself had created? Abyssinian leaders never had full, direct and continuous control over the present-day #Eritrea. They didn't have any control over the coastal & lowland regions of Eritrea.
So, how is Menelik a traitor for not incorporating a territory which was not his to begin with? And how does it make sense for you to lament the subjection of the Oromo people by Menelik and at the same time call him a traitor for not subjecting the Eritrean people to his rule?
If your interest is to talk about #Ethiopian leaders who presumably committed treason by cooperating with foreign powers to defeat local competitors why not start with Ras Yohannes? You know, he facilitated the British Napier expedition against emperor Tewodros in 1868 and was
handsomely rewarded for that. While at it, why not add TPLF and Meles Zenewi to your list of traitors. They were helped by the EPLF to take over the reign of the #Ethiopian state from the Derg & forcefully deject other Ethiopian political forces, like the OLF, from the
transitional government in the early 1990s.
You keep calling #Eritrea a tiny, impoverished and #Ethiopia's problem child. But, as a notable Oromo nationalist, a "tiny and impoverished" Eritrea, which succeeded in liberating itself from the empire-state you are fighting against,
should have inspired you. It would have been wise if you had remembered the fact that "tiny and impoverished" Eritrea had extended crucial logistical, military, political and diplomatic support to the OLF right from its inception.
Like many postcolonial states, #Eritrea is currently suffering from authoritarian rule and poverty. This fact should have produced a sense of sympathy & solidarity, not presumptuous derision & contempt, from people like you who are presumably fighting against oppression & poverty
