I celebrate progress in genuine hope that there will be a day in my grandchildrens' future where many of my views today will be looked backed on as morally insufficient or even unacceptable.
I look at me 20 years ago and think how screwed up my views were. I celebrate being me today and being able to see and think that. That's progress. May I celebrate the same progress again in 20 years.
May my grandchildren think I was a good person with many views they consider messed up. May I create the path for them to advance way beyond me, the farther the better.

The idea that I will disappoint them isn't one of shame, but of pride. They'll get there because of me.
I celebrate many of those who came before me. I also celebrate us in realizing how wrong and even immoral many of their views were. May we accept that the time will come when many of our forebears are no longer considered heroes overall.

May that come as a result of their work.
