I do not for one second think that this is coincidence, do you? Progress its plans whilst the country is plunged into further restrictions and people worry about paying bills and putting food on the table. #lockdown2 Costs have been mentioned of £40 - £60 per Mwh...
for power generation from the proposed plant. Well of course they are going to say this, generation from wind is now below £40 per Mwh. The price of £92.50 agreed for Hinkley C back in 2012 has turned out to be a complete and utter disaster for the consumer.
Hinkley C as of Sept. 2019 was projected to go over budget by £1.9 - £2.9bn. Yes BILLION. Total cost to go north of £22Bn. Imagine quantity of renewables just a quarter of this could buy. Which are greener, safer and be up and running and contributing to grid in a lot less time.
Couple this with capable, efficient and safe grid scale battery technologies #vrfb and we have the capability to build and efficient, safe, reliable grid built for the future. Along with Hinkley C , EDF's Flammanville plant and plant in Finland have experienced severe delays and
spiralling costs with their EPR reactors. Surely common sense should prevail and Sizewell C would be scrapped? The felling of Coronation Wood for car parking & re allocation of existing buildings at Sizewell site is yet another catastrophic proposal that would destroy an AONB.
Voices against these proposals are just not being listened to. It honestly makes me sick to the stomach to read how this is progressing. It is far from over though and the show of support against #newnuclear must continue @SayNo2SizewellC
