Been seeing this make the rounds, and I have a few thoughts on it.
While outdoor activities can *reduce* risk, it does not eliminate it. Having outdoor rallies where people are crammed shoulder-to-shoulder without masks is asking for a problem. (1/3) https://nymag.com/intelligencer/amp/2020/10/trump-rallies-covid-spikes.html?__twitter_impression=true

It's been shown that speaking loudly, cheering, yelling, etc. can increase emission of respiratory particles, making events like these even more risky.
With SARS-CoV-2 prevalence so high, it's guaranteed attendees brought the virus with them. (2/3) https://www.nature.com/articles/s41598-019-38808-z

Another aspect to consider is these rallies have risks before, after, & during them. Attendees carpool to them, yell at them, and go to a bar together afterwards, just like a football game. So it's not just the rally itself, it's the whole aspect of mass gatherings. (3/3)
