My favorite trick is that minority government is majority rule and majority government is minority rule.
My poignant tragedy, Opposition parties benefit from government failure and fund raise off of it.
The system does not encourage politicians to work for our good and to work together, but rather to jockey for position to win by a nose instead.

My favorite FPTP trick is vote counting theatre; election security is tight, votes are counted with observers, people register objections, but although every vote is counted, 52% of votes don't elect any one.
My favorite trick, promises of PR, (with caveats).
Trudeau, 'We will make every vote count.' Nope. Legault, who promised not to pull a 'Trudeau', if elected he would give Quebecers PR sans a referendum.
Nope. He's got a referendum.
Ditto PEI.
Ditto BC.
Cue fiendish laughter..

My sense of tragedy; the sort of purity test politics to demarcate political brands becomes like rearranging the deckchairs on the Titanic, with this trickster.
While the brands duke it out, their vote split allows a completely unrelated party to come up the middle.

How's this for a trick? Vote for the party you dislike to prevent a party you like even less from going to the legislature.
A favorite trick of the political tricksters, who could change the electoral system to end toxic partisanship goes like, vote for Liberals or fear the vile actions of the CPC. Bogeyman politics works in a poorly designed system which fails to mirror the wishes the the electorate
Policy lurch, aka throw the bums out, wrings out the tragedy of winner takes all voting systems.
Tossing out one government for another, not only tears up progress and costs a fortune, but tragically betrays voters, many of whom are not so dissatisfied. It's a partisan play.

One tragedy little known is how FPTP is to its bone a divisive system. Not only do entire sections of our country get locked out of government, but our PM and MPs know that FPTP destroys national unity, yet they put party before country.
