My favorite FPTP trick is vote counting theatre; election security is tight, votes are counted with observers, people register objections, but although every vote is counted, 52% of votes don't elect any one.
My favorite trick, promises of PR, (with caveats).

My sense of tragedy; the sort of purity test politics to demarcate political brands becomes like rearranging the deckchairs on the Titanic, with this trickster.

How's this for a trick? Vote for the party you dislike to prevent a party you like even less from going to the legislature.

Tossing out one government for another, not only tears up progress and costs a fortune, but tragically betrays voters, many of whom are not so dissatisfied. It's a partisan play.

One tragedy little known is how FPTP is to its bone a divisive system. Not only do entire sections of our country get locked out of government, but our PM and MPs know that FPTP destroys national unity, yet they put party before country.
The silly system of single member, district pluralities pulls off the neat trick, in a winner takes all system, of electing the wrong winner.
