One thing about Americans is we are a spiteful people.

It drives us, it fuels us, it's the basis of the nation. We operate on the principle of "I'll show you you son of a fuck."

Make it hard to vote and we will spite the shit out of you. https://twitter.com/igorvolsky/status/1322532925376790528
If you create a situation where there's a six hour line to vote, we will stand in that line for six fucking hours.

We'll skip work. We will order pizza. We'll do the wave. We'll livestream and instagram all day long while slagging you off on Twitter.

We will *relish* it.
The irony is the best way to have depressed voter turnout would have been to make it easier to vote. MANDATORY, even. It's mandatory in several countries.

Then we'd do the opposite: we'd go out of our way NOT to vote. We'd take you to court for the right not to do what you want.
If Republicans had gotten behind initiatives to make election day a federal holiday, do away with any kind of registration beyond a simple ID check, hell, even let felons vote ...

The whole country would go to the beach and Dems would never win another election, ever.
But no, you hamfisted Captain Planet villain motherfuckers had to make it abundantly clear you were trying to stop us from doing something.

So here we are with record voting turnout and people working around the clock to vote in spite of you.

The GOP are imbeciles.
